This is part of a small commission for a friend, a Vampire Counts army for Warhammer Fantasy Battle. It’s really a quick job aimed exclusively for gaming purposes, not for winning any painting competition so I used the Army Painter to produce a large number of decent wargame level figures in a very short time.
I must confess that Army Painter has now become my tool of choice for wargame level 28mm figures: it doesn’t work so well on smaller scales, in my opinion, but on 28mm is simply great in bringing up all the detail and giving you nicely shaded models in a moment, with the plus of giving them also a great protection as it works as gloss coat too. You need to get used to it, mind you: selecting the colours that might work better with it and finding the right way to get rid of the excess of AP on the miniature once you dip it, but I think the learning curve is quite gentle and I definitely recommend this product to anyone who wants a good looking army painted in a reasonable time: as I said, probably won’t win you a painting competition (though armies I painted this way have won Best Painted awards at some tournaments), but you will have a nice army soon. I will add some eye candy so you can make your own mind on the results…
First of all, some Zombie wolves
Some Crypt Ghouls

Crypt Ghouls
And some Banshees
Finally some wraiths

Wraiths
To lead an army you need some suitable heroes: the first one ready is the infamous (for those who are familiar with the WHFB background) Konrad Von Carstein. This mini, however, was not dipped but painted normally with full shading and highlighting. I think that this is the best method to get an interesting army ready soon, dipped rank and files will give you a solid, good looking core, and wil allow you to go to town painting the characters to add som real eye candy
Next I am completing a generic Vampire Count Lord model (the one with an arm morphing into a bat wing) and I hope to have it ready soon to showcase it here. In the meantime, I hope you will enjoy these…
